Large bore Girling master cylinders??
Hi all...
got the clutch working today!! Brilliant - well pleased...
Only problem is that I run out of throw on the pedal before the clutch is fully disengaged. At the moment I'm using a 0.75 inch Girling master
cylinder - and despite a google I can't find anything bigger. Are they available and if so from where??
Alternatively - has anyone got any ideas on how to fix it - other than taking the engine out and lathing up a spacer!
Chris
By the way its an Omega gearbox and a Calibra clutch if it makes any difference....

Are you sure that the master is being pressed right in? It maybe that the distance between the pedal pivot is wrong.

I think it was all the way home... I've found a Girling cylinder that's 7/8 but its very expensive - I'd want to know that it
definitely worked before forking out that much cash...

Can you not get a smaller bore on the slave cylinder.
If not something must be wrong as your master cylinder would need to work with some slave to provide the necessary travel.
I would guess that either
1 your pivot point is not giving full travel.
2 your master cylinder is faulty
3 your slave cylinder is leaking back past the seals

First do a sanity check --- can you move the release lever at the bell housing far enough to disenage the clutch ? and are you sure the clutch driven
plate isn't stuck to the fly wheel ?
If above are OK we need some info on your slave cylinder and any spring fitted to the cylinder externally and internally.

It will release, but only at the furthest point of travel - a point that will be beyond the bodywork when I put it on!
The slave cylinder is a concentric one around the input shaft completely enclosed in the gearbox....
I'm going to have another go at rebleeding it tonight and see how I go from there...

In which case I think you are going to have to look at the pedal geometry, unless it is a kick self thing like the bleed port isn't upper most
on the slave.

Fixed it!
Thanks for the advice guys - another rebleed and a fiddle with the exact positioning of the clevis did it - just! Only hope now that it doesn't
move as the clutch beds in - I heard somewhere that if it does it should release earlier anyway???
Thanks again
Chris
