Wet Zetec
For good or bad I picked up a 2-litre Zetec Silvertop yesterday which had been left outside since it was removed from the car 2-weeks ago.
The exhaust manifold etc was all in place but the inlet manifold was open at the top where I assume the throttle body would have mounted.
I'm not going to be in any position to fit the engine for some months and am concerned water may have got in and will cause bad corrosion before
I get around to using it.
I was going to simply take out the plugs and squirt WD 40 down the bores (or pour in some oil) and also drain the sump but should I take the head off
as well?
I've go so much work on I really just want to do the minimum at the moment.

As you say
Remove plugs and squirt oil into the bores.
Turn the engine over a few times.
Don't use WD 40 It's good for driving out moisture but not that great for rust prevention.
Once lubed up plug all holes with oil soaked rag and cover with tape.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

Thanks for the advice, I'll do as you suggest and pour some oil down each bore.
Incedentally I like the chequer graphics, are these vinyl or paint?
John.
