Holeshot Turbo

Does anybody have any info about the turbos's used by Holeshot for bike engines. I think I'm going to turbo my ZZR, this is what happens when it takes so long to build anything you must make it more complicated so that it doesn't sound like your just really slow!!
Any advice or info with regard to turbo selection and fueling would be glady welcomed

they use the mitsu turbo from a 5 cyl volvo - apparently

which should be tdo4-16t .

i think someone said for bec's under 1l they use diahatsu charade turbo's, im not sure how much power those can give though...

I agree with peter, i looked into sticking one on my gsx1400 and i was told that a diahatsu charade turbo would be the ideal one or of a fiat uno turbo also

They are a hybrid mitsu turbo, I think they modify them to cope with the bike revs

if you go down the garrett route then you want something in the t25/t28 or preferably the new gt25/gt28.

it might be for a blade but its about right for a r1 and above, i did some compressor mapping and that size consistanly had better efficiencies than the smaller turbos. as long as you go for the lower a/r ones ing the range they should be coming on boost by 5k and fully boosting by 6k.

smaller turbos dont tend to be able to flow enough at higher engine rpms without creating alot of boost which isnty what you want you want higher boost at mid revs then at higher revs the boost can be lower to make the car easier to drive.

i was planning to run a 2 map switchable system the first map would run at around 8.5psi and mid range so that by 7krpm you would have nearly 200bhp but then drop the boost as revs increas so that the power would remain fairly constant until the redline and the scond would drop the pressure less so at the redline it was around 7psi which would give around 275bhp at 13k.

I believe that just over 300bhp has been seen on rollers with a hole shot kit, but the engine had also been away to have further mods to the head, 220 is a very drivable/long life option though

Im not sure they use a Diahatsu turbo, Iwouldnt think that would be up to much unless Diahatsu specced an overly large turbo for their engine, because that engine produces less power turbocharged than a blade / R1 etc does normally aspirated.

At the end of the day the amount of gas going through the turbo is probably a lot more closely related to the amount of power than engine size per-se, so Id think it would be better to ignore the engine size of the donor and look more at its power output after turbo-ing, so a Turbo off a 2L engine that produces say 220bhp turbo'd would likely be a better match on an R1 than a turbo taken off a 1L turbo'd car engine.
