what eacxactly do you want to know? and plumbing - you mean cooling system?

there is not much to it (I am assuming the expasnion tank is fitted to radiator).

water pump. two small 'S' shape hoses that go to 2 pipe in inlet manifold - these go to heater eventaully. one of these is a steel tube running below the manifold going from WP to heater.

fat water pump hose goes to bottom of radiator (inlet)

thermostat housing to top of radiator.

manifold has small outlet on front - air bleed that goes to radiator.

back of radiator go to heater - these can be connected together in a U.

if you have an expansion tank that is not coonected to radiator, then I;d need to look in the Haynes (or take a peak at Rimmer site).

some piccies.

at the back, between the carbs, you can see 2 black hoses for the heater.

at front, the blue painted tube is for heater, to the right of it is the tube that is insert to the mandifold; no hoses connected.

here youy see fat blue hose from thermostat to the radiator, and above it the smaller bleed hose. again no sign of the 'S' water pump hoses.

Hi,

Thanks for the photos yes I am interested in the coolant plumbing. I will take some photos of mine this evening.

However in text

Bottom hose on radiator to bottom of the engine

thermostat to top of radiator

Two small pipes on water pump to piles in/on inlet manifold

pipes on back on inlet manifold to heater matrix

light blue pipe on yours that is next to 2 cast in inlet manifold is sealed what is this one for?

Small pipe from front of pentangle on inlet manifold to top of radiator

as I mentioned, in my case I have overflow bottle; SD1 may have had an expansion tank so that would be slightly different arrangement. overflow bottle pipe goes to top of radiator cap neck so water can only flow when the sprung seal in the cap is pushed open by the water expansion; an expansion tank is plumbed in to be part of the water system at all times ... hmmm I'm not explaining that well am I?

hi you are doing a good job im just not listening properly.

so this was posted in the other thread witch one is this as I think I must have miss under stood.

Hi,I noticed that you mentioned that the manifold small rear pipe is connected, but as Mark mentioned this is probably blocked and is the most common cause of V8's overheating apart from head gaskets.
If you pull the pipe off and push a 6mm drill bit down it I would be surprised if it is not blocked or restricted .
You should be able to see a contant stream of water coming from the pipe and into the header tank.
