nissan micra woes again!
again another micra problem!
I have recently brought a 1988 nissan micra, i had probs with the gearchange but have managed to fix those, the clutch cable had stretched, a new one
has made it lovely now!
however in the process of changing the cable the car now will not idle, ie it will start then imedialty stall. u can keep it running if u keep your
foot on the throttle but it doesn't idle at all! i have tried to find out what it could be, but am at abit of a loss, the fuel and sparks and
timing will be ok if the car starts? i had thought the throttle didn't open far enough as it stalled like someone had put thier hand on the
intake, so i have adjusted the throttle stop, this hasn't helped so i am a little unsure what to try as i don't want to make it worse. Any
help with be great! The haynes book of lies hasn't shed any light on the subject. The carb also backfires and pops, if that helps diagnosis.

I had a similar problem. Turned out the motor was drawing air through a cracked hose.

that does sound logical, was thinking it must be something like that, i had suspected the choke was causing it, but i think its ok, the carb is a bit
more complex than the basic ford one! Will check the air hoses, there are a few of them, like u say for the disturbutor and various things like that.
hopefully this will sort it, my girlfriend is losing faith in me!!!
not that she had much in the first place, despite all that i have broken and fixed on my saab.

thanks guys!
found the vacuum hose for the diturbutor hanging off! took me ages to work out where all the hose went, as i had three hoses and couldn't find
anything to connect them too! the bit i needed had fallen on the floor, glad i found it!
the hoses don't seem to holding on that tight tho, i there anyway of making it more secure? glue would work until i wanted to take them off!
does it matter at all? is there some of glue that doesn't set? any ideas would be great!
many thanks again
