Oil Cooler

Hi
As I have chopped my 1600 Xflow sump I'm adding an oil cooler for some extra capacity. Obviously I need a take off plate but I wondered what 'plumbing' I really need. Any other tight gits out there who can advise?

Looks like standard pipe fitting stuff to me! Is there any black art to this or is it just pipe fittings jubilee clips and the right sort of hose?

Alternatively - does anyone have the aforementioned gubbins for sale? (I already have the cooler)

Also I have seen oil coolers mounted on rubber cotton reels. Is this necessary or is it OK to mount directly to chassis?

TA
Mike

Ordered a load of kit from ThinkAuto (Mocal) yesterday.

Even though I phoned at 5:25 and it took a while for them to answer the phone, had a great chat with the guy (unfortunately didn't get his name) but he knew his stuff and I was amazed at how cheap some of the stuff was.

1/2" oil pipe was something like £6.50 a meter in black or blue, and push on fittings was around £1.50 each, although I needed some male/male unions in order to use them.

They do all the remote filter headers, take offs etc you could ever need, and its not as expensive as you may think.

WSCC members get 25% off too, so may be worth seeing if they'll do something for LCB members.

No need to fit on rubber mountings, I've got one on my Caterham, and Midget, both bolted to chassis as standard.
Cheers John
