hi there ,anyone know the average gain expected from going fron single carb to twin dellorto 45s on a 1.8 ohc .???
is it worth doing ie good bhp gain etc?

All depends on other modifications that have been done to the engine

I wouldn't have considered it worth the undoubted hassle and expense that will follow given that you have a standard pinto and only 1800 at that.

A very large proportion of secondhand sidedraft carbs are worn out. Very few sidedraft carbs fitted are set correctly. A good proportion of rolling roads today are not good at setting them up. One that can will charge you a good sum for doing so. One that can't will still charge plenty!

Poor tickover, flat spots, petrol dribbling from the carbs, spitting back, poor fuel consumption..... Any of these indicate incorrect setup and most that have them suffer from some of these symptoms.

Save your money for a 2.0 litre engine. Maybe spend it on a cam for the 1800. Fit bike carbs (far superior to sidedrafts).....

Put them e-bay!

Further to the above, if its 45's you will want the smallest chokes if you want decent mid range, probally better off with some 40's if you go this 'classic' route.

Throttle bodies or bike carbs is the way to go imho.

if bike carbs which ones andbest place to get manifold ?
any other things to consider on this type of conversion fueling etc
