Bike carbs + airbox?
Heya all me again
Ive been looking round on ebay for bits and bobs 2 nab on the cheap untill ive saved up enough for a starter kit.
Ive been recomended by a few peopel on here that bike carbs are a good way to go with a zetec 2.0. so ill be going R1 or Blackbird as advised.... BUT
has anyone used an airbox on the carbs here and ran a cold air feed? or is it just easier to cut a hole in the bonet? Ide prefer to go airbox.
also is it possible to use such an airbox for futer turbo projects or would it as im thinking be no where near strong enough?
John

I have a whole in my bonnet with a sausage filter through it. Which i wanted to avoid but my carbs site so close to the bonnet i couldnt easily get
away with it.
I am planning on making an airbox for it at a later date. Sort of an alli box to go on the carbs with a pipe going to the front with a cone filter
on. Then some cold air pipes leading to that. This will make it quieter for track days aswell. The induction roar at the minute is loudder than
the exhaust when u make it pull.

the airbox from an R1 will not be suitable for use on a zetec. The R1 box is tuned to resonate at low revs on the bike but middling revs for a car
engine. It would mess up your low end pull a bit.

I've got a pic in my archive of the one I made, while not the tidiest it has helped to keep the noise down and ensure it only gets cold air
apparently not in my archive but at the following link
Its made out of a single sheet of light alloy bent to shape with fibreglass ends.
