loctite or wiring or "thackery"? (carb/mf0ld bolt)
on the way back from SVA I lost a carb/manifold bolt resulting in engine idling at around 2,500 rpm
I have those white plastic spacers with o-ring each side between carb and manifold and bolts holding it together.
The carb book gives dimension for the spacer so it cannot be squeezed hard and a spring washer used.
So what should I use to stop them coming loose?
a) loctite - ok at the temperature?
b) drill bolt head and wire together?
c) "thackery?" washer - those strange helix spring like things?
d) other?
TIA.

Locktite always works for me in that type of situation

When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

The manifold should have studs in on the carb end. You slip the carbs + misab plates over the studs and then use thackery washers or rubber+cup
washers secured with a nyloc.
They shouldnt come undone, its a proven design which has been around for yonks.
If you are using bolts into the inlet manifold through the carbs I am not suprised they came undone.

This bloke is very good:
FastRoadCars
If they are UNC studs you needs this is it:
Clicky
The end into the inlet manifold is UNC, the other end of the stud is UNF, you could buy the nuts form him, or get them from your local fastenings
place.

Most sidedraught owners now use misab plates and the rubber washers compressed between two cup washers and finaly a locknut. The old thackery washers
often break and the 'plastic and two O rings' are a pain.
Thi
s might be the cheapest way to buy the set for one carb!
