thackery washers - how much do I do them up?
feeling dead chuffed - local fasteners had 5/15 unf nylocs and at about 10 p about a 1/3 the price of what I was quoted
even better only had to unhitch the throttle cable and move carbs out of the way - put tyre against side and put them on top whilst I fitted the studs
& threadlocked in.
all fitted and tickety boo .... but the web/del book does not say how much you are supposed to do up the nylocs to squeeze the thackery washers ....
so anyone know? At the moment there is 3.5 mm between both washers and I reckon that I must be fairly close.
Unable to run engine to check for air leaks as I have taken out battery.

my friend google says: "There should be between 35 and 50 thou between the coils of the Thackery washers"
fine, but the distance varies since it is a helix???
a piccy (notice it does not have the 2 washers either side) shoing the thackery washer; seems I need nip mine up a tad more.

Weber say 20thou for spring washers.
Opposite the ends of the spring there is an area which will compress more than the other due to the way the spring is made. Thats the point at which i
gapped mine.
