More Zetec bits.....
Can anyone fill me in on alternative routes so I can save a bit of dough.....:
I'm assuming that the 2 ltr Zetec is a "silver top" one, not the black
plastic top 1998 on, these are not as good & harder to fit and modify.
If you can read the engine number, it's stamped near the flywheel VR sensor,
let me know and I'll date it for you, it helps when getting spare parts.
What you will need are the following :-
Zetec steel flywheel fitted with good used ring gear £ 175
New 3 in 1 clutch kit to suit the flywheel & Type 9 gearbox £ 58
New set of Zetec exhaust pipes £ 176 ( you reuse your existing collector &
silencer & swop them over to the LHS )
New alternator £ 67
New set of Zetec alternators mtg brackets £ 35
New Zetec grooved alternator pulley £ 35
New alternator drive belt £ 10
New starter motor - special type £ 78
New pair of metal Zetec engine mountings £50
You can reuse your Pinto mounting rubbers or Pair of CSC poly eng mtgs £ 40
Set of 3 rubber hoses and pair of stainless steel cooling water hoses £ 95
New water pump for Mondeo engine ( original runs the wrong way ! ) £ 48
All the above prices subject to VAT at 17.5 %.
I suggest the sump to cut & shut is a Mondeo one 1992-98, the pickup pipe is
also easier to do, it only needs the swan neck section cutting out &
rewelding.
I know its all right etc, but was hoping ppl could let me know cheap substitutes such as CVH flywheel??? I'm planning on using a CVH sump I
think and might try and build my own exhaust sytem.....Oli.

Had a look at Paul's site already....Great source for info but not exactly how I plan to do it myself. For starters I don't want to buy
the Tiger flywheel and the 2L one is very, very heavy! Hoping someone will fill me in.....Oli.

The 1.6 or 1.8 flywheel will fit and is lighter than the 2.0
Engine mountings are easy made and mounting rubbers are about £3 each from ebay (landrover s123) or craddocks etc
Not sure what Clutch you need for a type9 but I'm sure I've seen the details on here b4.
The water pump from an escort (I think) fits and can be had from your local parts shop for about £35 I reckon.
Cheers

I got an 1800 flywheel from donor spares in ipswich for £20 and the clutch early mondeo 220mm was about £30.
Water pump from ebay shop was £28 delivered and the spigot bearing and clutch release bearing was under the £30 the pair.
Aslo a sierra cvh starter motor (LRS707) are pretty common but parts for older cars in derby sell a new one for £55.
Its just a matter of searching around for best prices,it can be a pain taking the time to look but it worth the hasle.

Well its an over winter project as I'm planning to rebuild the whole engine so I don't mind looking around I think I just need directing
to a list of exactly what to be looking for.....I'll do a few more searches as I know most of this has come up before....Oli.

Also, if converting from 2.0 waterpump back to 1.8 unit you need the toothed pulley to go with it.
The Mondeo pulley is smooth as it runs on the back of the belt. I am lead to believe these ara less than £10 from Ford. I will be sourcing one soon so
will post the part number.
Summer's here!!!!
