1300 x-flow

Hi ya i am nearly at the end of my locost build and early on in the build i fit a 1300 x-flow with a 4 speed mk2 escort gearbox and a mk2 escort rear axle , now the reason for this thread is to find out what they go like as in how quick they are.

Can any body shed any light on how nippy it will be.

Many thanks and happy new year

Davrus

You'll be pleasantly surprised how nippy the little 1300 is - it helps you to get to know the car too before the power bug rears its ugly head. I've gone 1300 -> 1600 now moving to a 2 litre zetec.

Cheers

surprisingly nippy for a 1300...at least as quick as most reasonable hot hatches (except perhaps the latest batch of 200+bhp beasts)

My 1300 Fury was stonking fun - wouldn't break any world records but was perfect for learning how to control the car and (if I wanted I) could drive pretty much everywhere with the accelerator buried in the floor...

I love mine, it's great fun. Very nippy, particularly away from the lights. Fast enough to be scary for your passenger, but easy to keep under control, even if you're clumsy with your right foot.

I'm upgrading to a 5 speed at the moment, but only so that it's more comfy on a long run. Being an aeroscreen and glasses man I don't want it to go any faster.

It goes just as fast around corners and you'll be amazed how quickly cars disappear from your mirrors on roundabouts.

You're going to love it.

David

P.S. I've got a couple of mobile phone type videos of mine in action before it was finished. I'll email them to you if you want a look. Includes an "in car" blast down our street.

Hi you would be suprised at just how quick a 90 bhp 1300 can be made to go do a bit of looking for some 750 locost racing video footage.

As said above about on a par with a 180bhp ish saloon/hot hatch.

cheers matt

The car that got me hooked on Locosts was Rob Lane's 1300 crossflow powered car. Awesome build and quicker (or so it seemed) than anything else on the road.

You will not be dissapointed.
