I went to a local bike shop (push bike) and asked for a Heavy gear cable and a long length of gear sleave. make sure you get one with a nipple on at
least on end. I also go the end caps for the sleave and just made one up to suit using that.
You can use the internals electrical "chocolate block" as a cable stop/ tensioner.
Total price about £4 quid.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

most bike brake cables have two different nipples on the end (for road bike/mountain bike brakes).
Choose carefull which one you want to cut off.
Alternatively VWP sell cables of varying diameters by the metre with nipples (solder and screw on) types.
For nipple, I used a brass rod, drill down the centre, the hard bit, countersink, spaly out the wires hen soldered using plumbers solder (electrical
solder will be too weak). Hasn't given any trouble yet.
