1.8 zetec v 2.0
Been offered a 1.8 zetec engine complete for nothing!!! but wondered if there are any shortfalls with this engine over the 2.0. can't beat free
but just wondered how they compare.....cheers oh and yes i know i have a blade engine in mine now so its not a replacement...............

the 1.8 has less torque and power than the 2.0 but is cheaper to fit as you don't need to change the water pump/flywheel/sump. i went with one
as i didn't want to faf around with the engine itself and i didn't want to much torque running through the gearbox!

And if you change the cams for the xr version (or the 2 litre ones) it bumps the power up to roughly that of the 2 litre anyway

Nice avatar ecosse!. Kenny Roberts is it? There's no way he saved that one.
I went for the 1.8 as well due to the amount of changes for the 2.0. But now after SVA a 2.0 swap should be fairly easy.

This is only true if you get a escort 1.8, the mondeo 1.8 also needs all changed.

Not Kenny (although it would be typical of the man) but Gary McCoy, and while I don't know for sure if he saved it, if he did, he probably tried
it again on the next lap, and again, and again, until he didn't save it
