just fitted gear extension ,had to cut out cross member to get it to fit and had to remove the bung in the end of the gearbox ,do you just leave this
open or do you somehow cover it?

Does a connector rod go through it? If so can't you drill a hole in the end cover and put a rubber bung in it with a hole cut out so it slides
freely?
Just fitted my remote after 3 weekends of work, quite chuffed with it, except can't get 5th although this is an easy fix to grind a bit off
the stop on that side. Pictures in my gallery, link below for the interested.

Just leave it out. Should be ok. Make sure you grease the linkage up nicely when you put it together.
I need to make a remote for mine, thinking of using David Jenkins plans, as it looks pretty good Is the odd shaped bit which forms the reverse stop
available somewhere, or have people just made blocks up to fit? (Dimensions anyone?)

Read the instructions on my website!
I used the reverse detent thingy that was originally fitted in the end of the box - the one you have to knock out to allow the extension to be fitted.
This was ground down and welded on.

Just fitted one of these myself.
Seems to work OK, not driven it in anger though yet.
You say you had to cut out the crossmember - have you replaced it further back or just left it out altogether.
I'm asking because instead of moving / removing this I have made up a spacer to lower the back end of the gearbox to allow the romote linkage to
fit under the crossmember. There s just enough clearance but the gearbox rubber mount now obviously sits lower and sticks out about 40mm below the
floorline.
Whats the general concensus on solid mounting the gearbox and loosing the rubber mount, the engine is rubber mounted still. If I did this I should be
able to loose the sticky out bits under the car and still keep the crossmember in its proper place.
So whats the opinions
1 Leave it as it is, hope I dont catch the gearbox mount on anything, and hope he 10 mm clearance between the linkage and the crossmember is
enough.
2 Remove the cross member altogether and raise the gearbox back up.
3 Solid mount the back of the gearbox to the chassis, basically fabricat sonething and do away with the rubber mount.
All comments / thoughts very gratefully recieved.
Oh and to anyone else thinking of going for one of these......the gearlever position is now absolutely spot on.

I would not rigidly mount the gearbox and leave the engine on rubber mounts. You need some give in the gearbox mounting otherwise it is likely to
either break the mounting bolt or chassis mountings due to fatigue when the engine is twisting on the rubber mountings, you could make a mounting
using some rubber bobbins or similiar to allow a small amount of movement at the gearbox end.

Paul,
Not a bad plan, if I can find some bobbins that are around the 40MM mark, these should give the clearance required.
Piece of steel plate then between the bobbins and bolted to the gearbox using the hole for the standard sierra mount should do the trick.
Wish I'd thought of that............
Need to find some bobbins now............!!!!!
