2.0 and 205 flywheel weights
Doing an engine swap today - noticed that the flywheel off the 205 looked significantlky thicker on the rear face than one on an old 2.0 engine
weighed them up and the 205 is 9.0kg and the 2.0 7.3kg
lightened ? or was Capri/Cortina flywheel lighter in the first place.

Its been lightened, all of the 2 litre pintos had the same flywheels fitted.

A 20% lighter flywheel will do no harm to the engine pick-up so on it goes - Will have to check whats on another old 20 I picked up a few years
back thats lurking at the back of the shed.
The 20 also provided a nice light alloy alternator bracket that was about a third of the weight of the cast iron 205 thing and a nice single pulley
crank wheel.

On closer inspection of the back of the flywheel it has not been lightened by machining- It has been cast with less metal on the back as the casting
marks are where you would expect machining marks to be if there had been material removed.
This made me go dig out another older Capri 20 Pinto engine and yet again it has far less material on the back.
So earlier 20 Pinto engines definately have lighter flywheels than the later 185/205 engines
7.3kg as apposed to 9.0kg
