Need a Good Value Exhasut which one ?

hello, me and greggors now have our Mk indy and just have a few more bits to get, the exhaust for one thing,
At mk its £300 for a stainless one which seems really expensive for an exhaust ! would i be better to get the MK down pipe and 4 into 1 and then get my own silencer? i was thinking about getting a bike carbon fibre silencer ? could i fit this and would it work in the same way as the MK one its inplace of ?

The lolocost one is not stainless so that is no use but are there any other manurfactuers that do a stainless exhaust for less than £300 ?!?

Thanks Rich

I think the lolocost silencer is stainless (see here) - its basically the same one they've always done with the RH kits. Mine has held up well stainless-wise but it's not particularly quiet and it's not re-packable/openable - unless you cut and re-weld. Actually, there's a thought - I wonder if I could open it up, re-pack it and then rebuild it in a re-usable way.

The MK S/S zorst system is cheap at £300, i was quoted £700 by wunoff exhausts for basically the same set up.
Custom chrome wanted £300 + for mild steel kit you put together.

£300 as said is cheap. I got mine made by the same bloke who does MK ones, first class job. As said I was getting quotes for £700! You need to remember these are low volume product runs. Each has to be made almost entirely by hand, no robots to cut/bend/weld.

Dont worry about any pics. We went up to MK at the weekend to pic up our kit, and i had a good butchers at the black indy pinto. Im guessing that is the exhaust MK sell.

stainless comes up like chrome if you put in a lot of work but don't forget it also scratches like ally solvol is great

I made my own out of mild steel, it cost £36.70 all in including the silencer.

I may change the engine post SVA so I don't want to shell out loads!

This chap near Lincoln will make one up for you, but he will also give you a contact for another firm in the same trading estate who can also do exhausts. He bent my 2" stainless for my roll bar last week while I waited and he also has experience of Kit cars with an MK and a Sumo in for some work or other.

Also has anyone thought of making a repackable box out of Carbon fibre?? I have thought of it as my header will only be one pipe from the turbo to the silencer (although it will be the size of a drain pipe!) and the silencer will be the most expensive bit of the whole thing.

To mention the unmentionable... a complete exhaust system from Tiger is about £300 plus VAT.....
