Ben, just about to start mine too. I want a touring range of 200 miles, I expect a minimum of 35mpg touring so 6 gallons would be about right. Normal
local use I expect about 20 mpg, so filling up should be about 2 hours apart!
I talked to my local tank repairer about protecting the interior of the tank - he said bugger all, a normal mild steel tank will last about 7 years
without any internal protection - so I'm making mine out of mild, easier and cheaper, and yes I am going to have an internal swirl tank. a
2" exhaust offcut with a couple of 1/8 holes drilled in it.

Well if you want to make 2 at same time.... i'd happily take the spare off your hands.
Think I'll go for a 6 gallon too

Mine has got to fit between the rollbar rear supports and will only be 24" wide, but will be taller - taking up luggage space. mind you I will
probably cary luggage in the passenger footwell as my Mrs will not fit in the 17" wide apperture - Oversize chassis plans are available, but I
stuck with the standard plans - oops. he he he he

Tank Capacity...
What's all this about Gallon's? Our garage only sells fuel in litres...
We're planning on getting 150 miles per tank minimum so a 20 litre tank is sufficient working on about 30mpg. 1 litre of fuel occupies very
nearly 10cm^3 area, so is easier to work out.
