My God! What Have I Created!
Today the Beast drew her first breath!

Obligatory First Fire Up Video
As you can see, I'm rather happy  . I can't believe it just started like that, no drama at all! Difficult to believe the engine had sat
for 2.5 years. Oh, and please ignore the wiring. I've basically just draped the Rover donor loom over the car and plugged it in. I wanted to be
absolutely sure I could start the engine with the OE ECU before I plumbed every thing in for good (plan B would have been MS).
There is also another video in the link above showing it move under it's own power for the first time . This is another big success as I spent a
great deal of time designing and building the adapter plates to fit the type-9 to the engine. The clutch is also a hybrid, using the Rover pressure
plate and hydraulic actuator and a sierra friction plate. Again, it just worked with no drama with a nice bighting point without any adjustment. And,
when I roll the car back into the garage, if you listen carefully you can hear the turbo spooling up and down as I rev it

Well done! We got ours running this weekend as well, there must be something in the water (or everyone's trying to get in for an SVA!!!)
And first drive as well! ours will be a bit further off....

Well done. Wish i was at this point. Far far away though. My concern is the hight of the hoop bars. A lot less than your head.

Don't worry on that . In the video I'm sat on a lump of wood to get an approx seating position. With the proper seat in, which I
haven't got properly fitted yet, I'm much more laid back and am well below the roll bar.

The engine was basically free - my old rover 620ti which had become un-economical to repair. It was a great engine in the Rover (200bhp), so at the
time it was a no brainer to use.
In hindsight, it's been a PITA to do, and probably too heavy really. Sometimes I think I should have just fitted a Zetec, but then as you say
it's something different and I guess I like that Going against the flow appeals to me

Well done bill, its a great moment on 1st start up and an even greater one when the car moves under power for the 1st time, i remember it well

As for why, the picture is from the Cannonball Run where he plays Dr Nikolas van Helsing. If you haven't seen it, he was very good

It was actually my wifes dads uncle, Ray Elam, originally from Coventry. He moved to the states in the 40's. If you saw my wife you would see
the family resemblance.
