New engine (duratec)
Managed to get hold of a low mileage 2 litre duratec for £375 off the good old bay of e. Just have to arrange a courier to pick it up once the bloke
calls me to tell me he has it out of the car and on a pallet.
Something else to do at the weekend!

Nope, the ST170 is a zetec engine with VVT and variable intake geometry.
Zetec badged as duratec.
The fiesta ST150 engine is a duratec

Is that going in your GTS then?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Certainly is. Job for later in the year once all the shows are over and I have had time to collect all the parts.
Should be a bit lighter than the pinto and have a few more horses too. Intend to just whack some throttle bodies on the side which should see
190-200bhp. Which should be a laugh.
Need to get hold of a flywheel, clutch and bellhousing. Everything else I should be able to fabricate or mod myself....I hope!

Jammy git!
Will be following your conversion with interest as intend to do this myself... as soon as I have a job!
ie. money, but no time to spend it!
Not worth being there when he removes it so you can see it running before is it? Just to be on the safe side!
Cheers,
James

It will get a full strip and rebuild as usual before it goes anywhere near the car, its only done 50k miles so I am hoping it will just turn out to be
an inspection excercise rather than a rebuild.
I have a HD tye 9 which I have just finished rebuilding, which will take the power from the duratec.
The other stuff you need is bellhousing, flywheel, clutch and inlet manifold. Other mods are required to the sump, EGR ports and thermostat/waterails.
All of which I should be able to fabricate something for.
Exhaust wise, apparently the pinto exhaust is an easy mod, with a new flange and a bit of a tweak, I am banking on this really!

Grrrr, they sent me a 1.8! Bugger. Apparently it came out of a car registered as a 2.0 and said 2.0 on the back. If so, that just about sums up my
luck at the moment!
Called them and apparently they have a 2 litre coming in on monday.... I'll call them again then!

I assume you've spoken to Paul by the above comment? I did his for him if i remember right we only had to cut one primary to get it to fit the
new flange it realy is that close!
