Diff play on overun
Hi, I have a 7" lsd sierra diff that has developed a few problems since doing a couple of track days.
When cruising in a high gear with no acelleration ther is a noticable jerking in the drivetrain. The diff input shaft can be rotated about15/20
degrees before the slack is taken up.
Both output oilseals are also weeping.
Will a rebuitd kit (bearings with crush tube) remove the excess play? Also it any more difficult a job being a lsd?
Many thanks kenton.

being an LSD won't be a problem, as long as you doon't plan on taking that apart (i wouldn't!)
as for the rest, i don't know. 15-20 degrees, doesn't sound great, but wouldn't say its too bad

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yep, that'll be broke then!
There shouldnt be more about 0.5mm movement on the input flange with the backlash in the diff.
I now have a rebuild manual, but there are a LOT of special tools and fixtures are needed especially if you take the pinion out as it will also need
reshimming. If you are just taking the diff out then its not so bad.
