zetec sump mod

Hi, i have a 1.8 sliver top zetec. what mods are needed to the sump to fit it to a locost. any photo's and dims you have would be great....

Is the engine a mondeo one or an escort ? The sumps differ, the mondeo one is very deep, the escort one is much better, and less angled.

You'll need it tig welding to shorten it, the oil pick up pipe is steel and can be cut and mig welded.

There's a couple of photos of ours in this thread.

We went with 150mm from the mating face but it's still very low, with 2-3mm clearance under the bonnet we need to mount the engine low. We've always had low hanging sumps, and we've not cracked one yet.

I'd fit the engine and work out how much room you have to play with first.

If you do get it welded, don't forget the indent so the starter will fit, I didn't

Some get away with just the escort sump and a lot of care around potholes ect.

Depends on how high you can get it in the chassis.

Scholar and Dunnell do one for around £200
