Engines & Gearboxes

Morning Peeps

Can someone confirm that the Jaguar S type gearbox will mate to a V6 Duratec engine?
Also is the ST24 the best Duratec and what is the difference between it and any other V6 Duratec?

Thanks
Colin

The Jag version of the V6 Duratec is 3.0 displacement, compared to the 2.5 for the Ford.

The Jag also has VVT, which I don't think the Ford does.

If you get a Jag engine and matching gearbox then I'd imagine that clutches / flywheels / release bearings etc would be simple, rather than having to be assembled from different parts....

Cheers

Mike

The block is the only ford part of that engine. Everything else is pure Jaguar. Not alot of people know that

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

To make it better

Seriously, i would expect it was to stop people thinking it was the same engine as the ford. Dont think it worked

Someone has done this and posted some pictures a while back, a search might find it. ISTR that it wasn't a totally simple bolt up job, most of the holes do line up but some mods were required.

Thanks folks

I am back considering my options, engine gearbox wise again. The Cossie BOB engine is giving me more financial grief. It needs a rebuild which I was going to do myself but even a gasket set for it is £250.

Any suggestions about a good engine, gearbox combination, V6 preferably, that will fit in to a Viento?

the s type 3.0 rated at 241hp compared to the st24's 170hp, if the block is the only ford part then the bellhousing will bolt up, volvos v8 they fit in the sc90 is the same bolt patern and so is the v12 aston martin, all based on the duratec v6, its funny how jag say the 3.0 x type engine is nothing to do with the 3.0 st220, in the dyno shoot outs in the mags, the st220 hits 231hp which is the same as the jag is rated at!!!!!!!!!
