whoops - radiator
When i started the engine on Sunday with a cooling system plumbed in (finally) we had a nice spout of water from the top of the radiator (polo).
I covered the hole yesterday with some epoxy resin and thought that is the end of that.
Not so, i have just found out that the hole is actually where the little 8mm outlet should be
Am i going to have a problem with this being blocked?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Lots of people block off the 8mm hose. I connected it up to my header tank but it's not obligatory...

Found I needed mine to get the last bit of air out (the rad is angled and thus has an air pocket a the top); so I plumbed in an air bleed pipe back to
the header tank. Others have just plugged it with an M5 screw (gives you somewhere manually to bleed from).
I'd suck it and see (you can always dig out the epoxy). If the top of the Rad stays cold (particularly the top of the plastic ends) you know
that there is air in there. If it's a lot you'll find the header tank level will change a lot as the air expands (my problem and hence the
plumbed in bleed)..

You don't need it, but it will help bleed the system, mine snapped off recently and i put a screw with some araldite on it into the hole and it
has been fine since then.

Doubt that the 8mm hole will worry you, I would be more concerned that you are trying to cool that monster lump with a Polo rad. I think it's
pretty marginal on a Zetec. My 2.9i 24v uses a huge landy 2.5 diesel rad and that is only fine as long as I don't stop, :-) :-) Cheers Ray
