X-Flow + Pinto Ignition?
I have a mate with a westfield with a 1700 xflow in it.
He bought it built with the luminition system installed (in place of the points). This promptly failed and he was told (dunno how true) that the
lumintion systems are unreliable. So he bought another aftermarket system - bestec? and now thats given up - i dont know the ins and outs of it but
basically he's pretty fed up of the electronic aftermarket bits.
So he wants to go back to simple. Question is, could he combine the x flow dizzy with the usual pinto set up - ie transit dizzy/ignition module?
I dunno how feasible this is, but having run the pinto for a while now it seems like a bombproof simple set up - which is what he wants as he
isn't particularly keen on tinkering around for hours like I am.
I presume the transit dizzy wont just plug into the xflow - but perhaps a bastardised combination of the two?
Any ideas?

Luminition systems are pretty reliable.
Pinto distrubutor won't work in an Xflo for pretty obvious reasons but a Fiesta OHV dizzie will, a Metro A+ dizzie can also be adapted.

As above, I've had lumenition systems in various cars with no issues at all. Currently, as it was cheap, I've gone with a dizzy from a
valencia engine which is a straight swop for the old FOMOCO unit, the only issue is a dodgy advance curve. It's not that it's bad, but it
could be better. It's certainly smoother than the original setup, and the car starts first time every time.
