Have a shoofty in my photo archive. There's a scanned piccy there from forced induction tuning by G.A.Bell showing boost for CRs...

Its not how much boost you can run BUT how much boost you're turbo can produce within its boost map,
too much psi on a small turbo = loads of heat in the air and less power than running the turbo on less boost.
i would say that no more than 1.2 bar but agen you MUST match the turbo to the pressure you wish to run and the ammount of air being consumed by the
engine

The aforementioned graph would suggest between 2.5 and 10 PSI on RON98 (depending on intercooler efficiency).

Better not turn it up anymore as i have been running 30psi for the last year.

Yeah 30psi seems kinda high, then again if you haven't had any problems...........yet( ).............

30 psi is a hell of a lot of boost to run on a td04

how big's your IC and what are the intake temps?
how are you measuring the boost?

Over 2 bar boost on a zetec! With a little intercooler? I'm not convinced.

I did not think that 30 lbs would work on a zetek and not toss out the bottom end. Expecially with 9.5 to 1 comp.
I could see a big holset w35 or something like maybe as it would be right in its range at 25-35 lbs on a 2l ford.
They do run 30-35 lbs on the 2.3 ford lima but thats really pushing it and pushing 400+ hp

30psi!!!
As others have said that sounds like a lot and is surely pushing the td04 outside of it's efficiency zone - I.e you're going to be heating
the air up a lot which isn't much good for the engine. I don't have compressor maps to hand.
Is your intercooler as good as it can be and has your ignition been setup properly. You can make huge gains in this way at the same boost level
I know it is a turbo engine by design but the sr20det in my old 200sx made around 370bhp on 14psi with a stock bottom end and standard compression. Ok
it had some nice cams and a different turbo and a massive intercooler etc but it shows you don't need to run big boost to make the power.

30psi on 9.5CR AND a turbo too small for that boost?! Has it been checked for detonation?
I'm very very surprised its still working.

Are we talking 2bar absolute (ie 1bar atmosphere + 1 bar boost) or 2bar boost.
If it is 1bar boost it sounds on the high side of OK but 2 bar sounds mad.

As above, I think your gauge is reading atmospheric, even with 8.5:1 comp, 2 bar through a turbo thats too small will cause detonation, I doubt it
would run for a year at a higher compression ratio if it is actually 2 bar of boost.
A bird in the hand....

I'm sure it would be perfectly safe at 45psi....
Seriously though where is the reading being taken from - could it directly from the turbo housing? The engine might not be seeing that much pressure.
Still seems like a lot though!

I think that is correct, last time I saw the map it was topping out at 215kpa which would be 115kpa above atmospheric.
