Engines, IVA and MOT

Hi guys,

so a quick question on engines for a kit....
If you use an old crappy, ahem, i mean awesome engine like an xflow to get through the IVA, and then swapped to something obviously better like a zetec, what's the deal with MOTs?
Do they go on the engine age for emissions tests or will it stay as it was from the IVA?

Cheers,
Andy

I did SVA with a '92 CVH and now have a 2.0 Blacktop. MOT requirements are the same.

As I understand it, the MOT emmisions stay as they were for the original engine.

When you change the engine and report that change, DVLA just change the V5 engine size, and number and tax class. They don't comunicate the change to VOSA... that'd require government departments to comunicate with each other...

It should be tested to the same level as IVA but in practice testers have been known to think it's just visable smoke. In other words it depends how lucky you get.

so what's the official stance, if you did change an engine, should the MOT use the appropriate emissions test for that engine? does anyone know the actual law on it?
