Twin weber problems

I have twin 45s on my 2.0l pinto and when driving the idle goes up to 2.5k! Which makes it quite hard to drive, the linkage is all ok and seems like the throttle cable is getting stuck but all seems to be fine? Any ideas?? Do I need a stronger return spring? I will be putting a zetec engine in this winter so don't really want to spend any money on the setup I have but want to drive it till winter mods time.

Sounds a bit like the idle progression jets are not quite right.

I reckon air leak somewhere. Could well be throttle spindles not fully returning, so worth a look. And a re-balance.
Despite what is often said, Webers and dellorto's don't go out of tune, as the jets can't change. So balance/linkage etc the most likely cause IF it was running correctly.
