Pinto Wiring Help!

Evening,

I have a pinto and I am trying to learn a bit about the wiring for it!

I have two wires coming out of the loom (Tiger Avon) which appear to be a red and a brown (but they might have been extended from the original loom in different colours!). These connect directly to the coil with one going to a terminal with a '1' on it and the other going to a terminal with '15' on it.

What do these wires do (i.e. are the switched live, earth etc) and how does the rev counter pick up the rev's from the engine?

Thanks in advance

Mark.
