Autobox Inhibitor Switches...

I thought they just prevented the engine starting if the car is in gear? Surely then, on an old box like the Rover SD1 BW66, it would have some wiring going to the switch? The one I have doesn't and has no points on it where you would expect to connect wires. Is anyone familiar with these that can help with any info?



Also, does the inhibitor do anything else?

it should put the reversing lights on IIRC.

the volvo AW autos have wires to a multiblock which you can bridge out if changing auto to manual .

Every little helps

I'm not fussed if it starts whilst in gear or won't fire the reverse-light (I'll remove it!).

Can anyone think of any other functions it might do?
