40's on Zetec

Hi.
I'm planning to fit a Zetec to my next project.
I was thinking of adapting the the phelum camber to fit or using throttle bodies.
However someone has offered me a good pair of twin 40's.
Is this worth considering or do the carbs need to be 45's?
Thanks.

I'l be mostly using Kawazaki ZX9R carbs on my 2 litre (mind you there are 4 of them!) and they are 38mm so i'm sure twin 40's will be fine. If i get miffed with trying to make an inlett manifold for the carbs i'll probably fit twin 40's too!

You really need 45's for a 2L even without taking into consideration hotter cams etc in the future.

Bike carbs really do seem excellent value for money over Webers and on a Zetec all you need (well, you need to space the bodies out, management etc etc) is the ST170 manifold and the throttle body connecting rubbers off it.

Loads of people doing this and if I was keeping my Focus any longer I'd be joining them!

I would imagine the st170 manifold would be hard to get unless you buy new..
