Which oil for tired old X1/9?
Yeah i know its not kit related but hey, its still locost!
I'm the proud owner of a tired old '88 Fiat X1/9 with equally tired gearbox. Has usual problems with 2 - 3 sync and has now developed 2 -
1 crunch will eventually get round to stripping GB but until then, whats the best oil to use to help calm it temper?
Many thanks to Mark Allanson with crankcase breather problem last week, she passed the MOT with only teeny weeny mention of the dredded tin worm I
may have to follow your lead soon and start a locost....

The gearbox's always did 'snick' into third, you can fix it, but it only lasts about 12k miles, so dont bother. The box is generally
quite good apart from that (some have reverse problems, but I never had the problem).
The oil to use is fiat recommended SAE 80/90 not hypoid EP, but haynes recomment GTX engine oil, which I think was 20/50 at the time of
publication.
I think your problem is air/water in the clutch system. Try bleeding 250ml of brake fluid through the system, the cheapest option by far!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
