Quick question - rear disc hubs.

Hope this is in the right forum area - transmission.

I'm in the middle of stripping the Sierra rear disc braked hub assemblies.
I haven't got a kit yet (mac#1) so don't know if the actual hub ( 4 bolt cast bearing carrier) is needed for the build, or does the kit already have this built into the rear IRS assy?

Can't remember if there is a bearing housing on the kit or just a flat plate pre drilled to take the Sierra hub.

Bolts are really seized on my donor, so if it's not needed i'll just bin them - otherwise some more scuffed knuckles coming up

As an aside, wow those outermost drive shaft nuts were MEGA tight, but at least not rusted, so got them off eventually

Cheers guys

I don't know about the mac#1 kit specifically but generally you will need both the spindle and outer hub from the rear of your sierra. Both parts that touch the bearing.

You thought the rear hub nut was tight, wait till you try the front

Thanks for that Smart51.

Yeah, I've just read a few threads whilst chilling with my coffee - and now thinking about it, it make sense that the Sierra hubs would be required. Looks like I might have to get the gas bottles going to warm them up a touch (and me . . .brrr it's cold out here).

Thanks again.
