Zetec Turbo
I've been reading the various Zetec Turbo conversion sites of the last few days, and am quite tempted to do the conversion on mine.
Has anyone here done a turbo conversion? Was it difficult? Was it worth doing?
Cheers
Mike

that seems very steep, i dont know why more people dont take turbos off scrap production cars and 'locost' their way through it?

Probably because they're in the scrap yard. They'd probably need re-building, or the wrong size for the chosen application.

you can certainly do it cheaper than that , itll work , the upgraded fuel pressure isnt really the best way to go about it .
and that manifold is cast not tubular , looks like its off a diesel turbo variant .
the T3 turbo is obviously an ebay cheapo also , theyre £450 from garret .
The T3 from a volvo 2.3 turbo has the right trim , compressor sizes for that sort of mod , if you go looking of course .

You need the manifold and T3 from the CVH engined Escort RS turbo. Almost bolt straight on. I think that one stud needs a bit of work. Then an
aftermarket ecu. You can get maps for the Pectel ecu from the guys on the Yahoo zetec group which is based in the states. Keep an eye on the Fast Ford
mags for features or order back issues for relevant cars. Easy 250 bhp on low boost and no compression change

Cheers for the info. I've got a megasquirt so the ECU shouldn't be a problem.
Who's got a turbo'd RWD car? Someone has said don't turbo it if you don't enjoy the feeling when the car comes on boost when
you're midway through a corner. Makes for an interesting ride. What's your experience of this?

Sounds like NS Dev, though he's not posted for a couple of weeks.
I think it's a valid concern that turbo lag makes turbos a bad idea for the twisty bits in lightweight cars, as coming in unexpectedly with a
bang tends to throw you off the road especially if it's wet.
If you control the lag, (i.e. resist the temptation to go too large) it can probably be made to work. Might be less of a problem anyway in an Anglia
Van since you're less likely to be cornering at the same G's
