A pic for you.

Cost £15 plus an hour’s time to take it of.

To get it off, The engine has to be lifted a couple of inches to clear the cross member. The gear box needs to come of to undo the two very back bolts.

You will also need the pick up pipe.

All the old holes line up but you will need to drill and tap 4 more, two front and two back in the block.

Old windage tray in Zetec won’t fit so comes out (new sump has tray in it)and the bolts that hold it on need cutting of to clear the pick up pipe, except the one that bolts the pick up pipe down.

The mounting lug on the pick up pipe needs tweaking back so that it will line up.

The front of the sump needs knocking out with a hammer just to clear the pipe pick up. Not a great deal though.

All in all another hours work.

The Scholar engines sump is about 160mm and is actually above the bottom of the bell housing. The cvh sump is about 170mm except a little bowl egg cup shaped for the oil drain which means the total is about 190mm aprox.

Looks straight forward enough, how does the 190mm compare to a standard zetec sump?
Sorry, i can't be arsed to go and look in the garage

I've just measured my 1.8 zetec sump and its only 170mm standard.
Does it really need shortening??

But the cvh item is steel so is easy to chop and weld with the mig.

mondeo sump is around 220mm

Cut Sumps

When the sumps are cut to reduce height is there any addition to allow for the lost area for oil?

Looked at a few sumps now and am concerned that the oil level is now reduced ?

Hi diy shortend sumps are ok for road use but if you are going to venture near a trackday then get a proper one from the likes of dunnell race line or the cheapest one is scolar racing £175 exchange all of these have been race proven . The amount of times when on a track day and people bugger the engine due to std or diy sumps is ammazing paticuly whith the zetec being prone to the odd oil pressure problem at the back of the engine .

cheers matt

I think i'll be getting away with the 1800 sump as its a fair bit shorter.

So i have 2 cut but not shut 2 litre mondeo sumps cut to 165 mm,plus a couple of pieces of ali sheet for a new bottom (rough cut 5mm ali)
Pics are in my archive no reasonable offer refused, can deliver to Donington show.

Oil pick up and sump plugs included.
