small gears
ok, a bit of a strange post. anyone know where I can buy small gears, maybe 20 mm diameter? preferably in metal for locost price (say up to £5 per
gear)
I am looking to making a small gearbox driven by speedo cable to increase its speed by a factor of around 2x.

now delrin ones are more in my price bracket - so anyone know how durable they are comapared to steel? (they are cheap enough for me to figure out
the ratio I need and then buy the steel ones).

Aren't most speedo gearboxes nylon these days? So the delrin ones might be up to the job.
Other than that brass ones from an old meccano set (i.e. this kind of thing from
ebay ) or
a model engineering place would be favorite.
What about these:

any good truck tachograph center would still have corrector gearbox's for old cable type tachographs, you would be able to specify the ratio you
require.

Both of those do a handbook catalogue, and do small gears, and racks and pinions, in plastics and metal.
Cheers,
Syd.

I can recommend reliance gear. they are based in Huddersfield I have used them for high precision machining for years. Really good. Gears are
manufactured in their Irish plant. the people are really helpful
