Type 9 clutch release bearing
Is there a knack to removing the bearing from the clutch release arm, because i've spent ages now poking it with an allen key like Mr Haynes
suggested but i'm getting nowhere fast. I'm going to go and find myself a little inspection mirror so I can try and actually see what
i'm poking but any tips would be gratefully recieved. Do I need to try and release both sides at the same time or can I work one side out at a
time? Is there a better way of doing it than using an allen key, and which way am I trying to lever the clip, from the pic in the Haynes it looks like
I need to push the clip in towards the input shaft?
Either i'm missing something or i'm being daft (quite likely), surely it can't be this hard to get off

The clips can be a bit tight but pull hard enough and they seem to come off with no damage.

They are very hard to remove without smashing the clips.
I used a long old screwdriver poked through the release arm opening in the bottom of the bellhousing, coupled with a hammer, to smash the clip off the
top and bottom of the bearing then it just falls off...
Just dont whack it too hard or you could break the bearing guide sleeve.
Or you could use a drift and knock out the release arm pivot pin, then remove the bearing and arm assembly refitting the pin when you are done.
Probably an easier method...

That sounds like a good plan, the bellhousing will be going in the skip anyway so I don't need to be carefull. Wanton violence shall shortly
commence
