Bike TB's to Zetec... again!

Hi folks

I'm new about here and could do with your help.

I have a 1.8 Zetec with light porting and fast road cams. I want to switch from my Weber Carbs to TB's and would like to get as much bang for my bucks as possible.

I've looked into Jenveys etc. but they cost a fortune.

I've read a bit on this site and it seems that bike TB's are the way to go.

I don't mind fabricating a manifold to suit, but I would appreciate some advice as to which bike TB ofers the easiest solution. From the other threads on the subject, I gather that GSXR750's seem to be the flavour of the day, but are there any alternatives out their that can use the fuel rails, throttle pots and injectors that they were born with? As I said, I want to keep fettling to a minimum.

Thanks in advance.

If you want minimum fuss, just get a set of suitably sized bodies with injectors, rail etc and get a manifold made up to suit.

Thanks for posting guys... not sure either helps me all that much though!

Scoobylav- what are they and why should I use them before any others.

Stevebubs - it was a wee hand in identifying the 'suitably sized bodies' that you allude to that I need.

Suzuki GSXR TB's are commonly used. early ones of a 600cc bike are separate units and can be re-spaced to match the zetec ports with a suitable manifold. Either you can make one yourself or somebody like Bogg Bros will make you one. 600's are believed good for up to about 190bhp, after that larger ones from a 750 or larger cc bike are needed.
If you do more searching on here there are a number of threads with loads of information, links & photos

Thanks John. I've read pretty much all the posts I can find on the subject, but none have stated if standard bike TB injectors, throttle pots, fuel rail, linkage, etc, can be used 'straight out of the box' for my intended zetec project.

I'm happy to fabricate a manifold - I knew that this would be a requirement. The only thing I don't want to do is have to modify the TB's themselves or have to change injectors etc.

I have gone for GSXR 750 TB's. They are very easy to respace as they are seperate castings.
The injectors are good for 190 bhp and the fuel rail can be stretched with a few bits of 10mm hose.
I have sourced a manifold flange and some ali pipe to fabricate my manifold.

Summer's here!!!!

bodies from a 600 are about the right diameter but you may need to check the flow rate to ensure it matches the output.

*Very Rough* Rule of thumb is check the power output of the bike and if it's about the same as the power you're expecting from the engine then you're probably not 100 miles out.
