KMS Engine Management - any experience ?

I have; am running one on my audi powered westfield.
Have previous experience with DTA and Omex and simply love the KMS.
I've chosen their wideband set-up and this works extremely good in my opinion. From an 'engine-feel' perspective and from a setting
perspective. The self-learning facility is fantastic.
On the DTA and Omex I didn't have wideband so I don't know what part of the difference is due to that.
From a productquality perspective none of the three has ever let me down. Service and support wise the KMS is way, way better than the other two. But
I'm in the Netherlands so I cannot say how that is in other countries.
De dutch westfield dealer works only with KMS and I know that they are the standard in the dutch autocross scene.
My experience is that if I had to choose between similar quality and price I would go for the best service and even more important; support.
In the Netherlands I got really pissed with the DTA importer when he wanted me to pay a lot of money for a base-map for the Zetec I was running then.
With Omex I had huge reliability problems in regards to delivery leadtimes.
Both with DTA and Omex these problems were sorted when I called with their UK headquarters directly.

I SAW THEM AT THE AUTOSPORT SHOW LAST YEAR IT LOOKED GOOD THEY WILL PROBABLY BE THERE AGAIN AT A GUESS.

Hoping they're good- their unit accepts the Honda trigger wheel off my ST1100 straight out of the box so I don't have to muck around with
external trigger wheels... And it's cheaper than Emerald!! Going to be my next order....

not a locost but im running kms on my gti6, i had some problems regarding mapping (a lack of companys willing to do it) other than that its a great
kit.
i think i payed over the odds for it tho

Yup- that's my only worry. A DIY supercharged BEC is going to need some careful setting up!!!! Wonder if DW would using KMS or if he's
strictly Emerald!!!!
I suppose getting someone to setup the car on a rolling road is so expensive its worth spending the extra money to get the unit they're used to
using e.g. DW might agree to tune the KMS but if he's used to Emerald he'd be quicker with that and it would end up being cheaper in the
long run to go with that... Perhaps......

HI the EMERALD might be a bit more expensive but just look at all the extras that come with it now nothing else on the market down at that price range
like it espesialy the new 3 in 1 mapping facilities for tubo ect use.
And the backup is second to none. Dave will also be at autosport if anyone fancy's taking a look and quizzing him.

You've hit the nail on the head with that one!!!
One of the main reasons I am about to spend £1500 on TWO DTA S60 Pro ECU's.
Lots of people can use the software and its free issue (as is emerald I hasten to add)
The S60 also has more facilities than most, certainly much more then the KMS

Get yourself a Wide-band, and you will have no trouble. Carefully read Graham Bell's book on supercharging, and it's an easy learning
curve. We've mapped out my ex-GT-Four and a Fiat Uno Turbo, from scratch taking it easy and in steps.
I also suggest buying a Knock-Monitor of some sort. The ones that you can hear through a pair of headphones.
Aim for 12.8 AFR on boost, this is where the wide-band comes in. Then just play around with the ignitionto avoid detonation.
You can then fine tune it all , if you realy need to, on a rolling road, to smooth out the torque curve.

the headphone knock monitor is absolutely essential in my book.
I would hesitate to use a rolling road without one to be honest now that a lot do use them.
