changing type 9 electronic sender to mechanical
im trying all possibilities before buying new or trying to find second hand electronic speedo. my type 9 is the newer type with only the electronic
output on the gearbox does any one know if this can be changed for a mechanical.
just asking as i have a nice set of MGB instruments they were very cheap so want to use them if possible

I get the impression that the electronic unit is removable.

yep the unit is removable but dont know if i can do anything with it once its out.
hey dave we could swap
now that would be a pain

certainly would be a pain, mine is in the car!!
i have a spare gearbox, that is a possible duff unit, , tryed to get the bung out of where the electrics go yesterday..... its got holes for a
screwdriver to go uner, so looks like its just hammer home fit, but i couldnt get it to move... anyone had one out before do i need a bigger
screwdriver/hammer ?
just to mess your plans further, you do realise that the gearsets for the speedo drive vary as to what diff you have fitted ?
the standard speedo spec is normally 1000 rev a mile, normally written on the dial somewhere
