2.0 zetec Vs 1.8 escort zetec sumps
Was thinking of putting a mondeo 2.0 zetec in my locost but after reading up bout the amount that i will have to change i think it will be better to
use a 1.8 from an escort mk5 xr3i 130ps.
From what i have read the escort's sump is shorter than the mondeo one so should not have to be modified. Is this right? also it will save
having to change the 2.0 water pump, flywheel, ect.
So what will i have to alter on the 1.8 to use it in my locost.

to put the 1800 in,just need a spigot bearing for the crank and a starter from a seirra 1800 cvh
and there may be an element of mix n match with clutch

release bearing is i believe transit,i modded a seirra one cos i,m clever like that, the cover/center plate may be what came with the engine as long as
the center plate fits onto gearbox input shaft splines,if it dosnt you need a center from what ever your gearbox came from.

Don't forget the intake, can't use the original parts, though modified it can be used.
Check here to get a impression.
BTW, in all topic we were talking about silvertop zetec's, the escort only had silvertops, but mondeo depends on the year.
You also need a sierra 1.8 CVH (not ohc!!!) or Sierra 2l DOHC starter motor

I'd suggest you look at the Zetec-Cat web pages.

I fitted a 1800 Mondeo engine to my locost by following the excellent advice. All aspects of installation are covered including the required part
numbers.
Good luck

hey,
that is the zetec i am fitting to my car, the reasons you are going on about are why i choose an escort 1.8 xr3i engine, no need to fiddle around with
the water pump and sump etc. it also has the same power as the 2 litre albeit with less torque.
