pinto and electric fan switch

where is the best place to mount the switch in the coolin system for a pinto
top or bottom hose?

i am not certain which way the water goes round , in or out at the top ? but guess the fan should be in the oulet of the rad?

The water enters the top of the rad so thats the best place for any thermal switch.
As far as fan mounting goes you can mount it either side of the rad, but I would put it on the back - less obstruction that way.

What rad you using. I used Micra which had built in thermostatic switch and works a treat.

dunno what its out of, but no housing...
can possible get a bit of metal pipe into the top hose with a boss though......

one thing puzzles me though the water is going into the rad at the top, why isnt the switch at the bottom, so it responds when the water comes out cooler... surely at the top it is just acting on stat temp, and could run on longer than needed ?

Your thermal switch should react to the actual temp of the coolant in the engine, or the next closest thing which is the top of the rad. If you used the bottom hose the fan would never kick in unless the radiator fails completely
