So overall this plenum is not good? I am thinking to make one because the ones i see on the net are cheap or not that cheap as this one, but crap, ooor those aluminum round beautiful shiny 400-500 GBP ones, that are obvuously not my type of beer. and 175gbp is not cheap at all i think for 2 flanges and 5 tubes badly welded together. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks
Yavor

If you can weld beter than this guy and put it together with a bit more care you should be able to make one for around £50 inclueding a lazer cut flange.

That doesnt allow for welding/ time and finish, just the steel.

i've been threatening this for a while, figured out everything including the injector bungs. Suppose i need to pull my finger out. Just need the cad diagrams for the zetec (and for personal use, crossflow, pinto is also an option) inlet manifold.

With the jig i've got in mind i can alter the height of the large tube per inlet so that it clears the chassis rails.

Good on yer MikeR - go for it!

Hey, MattyC, how about giving it to you apprentices as a project?

Should I do it myself, I wonder? After all, I did teach Frank Spencer everything he knew about precision engineering & welding. Maybe not, then!

OK Here is some more pictures
injectorseats

And here are some measurements.

diagram

The small tubes outer circumference is 165mm and the large tube outer circumference is 240mm. Is there any other pictures or measurements that would help?

I spoke to Spencer Ashley today and he said he would give me my money back but that oes leave me without a manifold!

Brilliant!

I liked the look of this one

http://topspeedperformance.net/

Probably useless, but looks nice! Needs to fit under the bonnet of a 7 without great holes having to be cut out.

My thoughts so far....

Cast plenum top, trumpets, shown on duratec flange but you get the idea.

Any comments? Aside from not having any injectors shown yet.

Will need some refinement yet mind.....

I know practically nothing about plenum design, but I do know it's a lot more difficult that it looks, and it's easy to end up with something that looks good but has really poor performance. Also they have to resist considerable vacuum, when the throttle closes, which is why a lot of them are round.

Type 'inlet plenum design' into google & you get more info & pics than you can shake a stick at.

Here's just one result

That looks really nice but like others say looks aren't everything. Would that be expensive to make?

I spoke to Westfield when I was looking for a manifold originally and they said they haven't made one for years.

re "That looks really nice but like others say looks aren't everything. Would that be expensive to make?"

Not sure which one you were looking at - there are about 300 on that page!
You're right though - looks sure aint everything, and as for cost... no idea!

I only included that link because I thought you might see a design that looked halfway suitable, & you could then click the link to the mfrs website to see of there was any technical info.
