Jaw Datalogging
Hi, just been out for the first time with the laptop to do a bit of datalogging on the Jaw, is there a good practice to datalogging? I understand its
the reading at wot that is important and I suppose the sensor has to be nice and hot too, does it matter what gear it done at or engine load, my
feeling is it maybe better to wait until a trackday or something and do it then. But as a general rule is it ride around a bit to get everything up
to temp, pull over, start datalogging and then accelerate, but for how long and to what revs as I don't fancy damaging my engine by over reving
it. I have attached the datalog that I got earlier tonight and not sure what sections to look to look at tbh.
Does anyone have some general guides that maybe of use for jaw and megajolt as I did a datalog of that and that ones seems alot more understandable
mainly due to that one having rpm figures where as the jaw one doesn't as its an external device and not got a feed off the coilpack or
megajolt.
Cheers
Rich

First thing to do is connect the rpm lead then it will start to make sence and datalog again.
I use the output from megasquirt and log this which gives far more info but I would do the folowing:
Once logged put into an excel pivot table, Y column for RPM and graph up.
Now when you see the RPM climb you should see the AFR low, on de-acceleration the AFR will go high, this is fine, at constant RPM you can see the
sustained cruising mixture.
Have a google for ideal stuff then compare.
Regards Mark

I'm waiting for a modification to Megajolt that's imminent - this will allow the logging of an external input synchronous with everything
else that MJ logs (rpm, timing, load).
I'll be using the JAW Vout signal as an input to MJ.

Cheers fellas, that has at least made my mind up about the 3 solde r mounts on the jaw, was thinking about just attaching a single wire for the revs
but may as well get a connector for all three if the megajolt software will be able to that, I know Brent has been suggesting this will be a mod for
quite a time now, David is this a definate now?
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys

It's been imminent for quite a while!
I think he's at the beta test stage...

Thanks for that link, just downloaded the new config software and like how the saved datalog can be opened and viewed in a graph, makes it easier for
numpties like me to understand. (Haven't a clue what a pivot table in excel is )
Not sure about the mod though, think i'll wait until other have successfully done the mod first and hopefully done a part list and idiots guide
to upgrading!
Thanks for the replies.
Cheers

Pivot tables are pretty cool when you get the hang of them, graphing up is the main thing you need to do as you are only worrying about flat and
incrementing lines with the RPM comparing to the AFR.
