Piper 285 cam?
Hi All,
does anyone know if you need to use modified pistons with a piper 285 cam in a xflow?

If i remember right the 285 is equivalent to the kent cams bcf3 so no you should be ok without piston mods.
Will have a look and see if i can find any info to confirm.

no piston change req.used to have one in a mk2 ecsort.

My car started out as a xflow 1300 then 1600 then 1700 with bigvalve head dcoe's ect then R1 then R1 turbo and that's it for now 
Any suggestions what next

If you are fitting a new cam then it would make sense to check the valve to piston clearance before trying to start the engine especially if you are
using 1300 pistons to raise the compression. . Recommended procedure is to use plastecine to check . Thick solder wire through the plug hole and
rotating the engine a few times worked for me so no need to dismantle again. If you follow my method don't blame me for any problems
