2.0 Silver top Type9 or MT75?

I've got a silvertop zetec with a type9 fitted. It's all out of the car now and I'm having a new chassis built.

I noticed the mt75 is a newer gearbox and also made of alloy.

Does anybody know what each box weighs? Do they both cope with the same amount of power? Does the MT75 "just fit" onto the engine?

Any help or advice would be great

Thanks

Dan

MT75 is ally-bodied, quite wide, with integral (none removable) bellhousing, slightly lighter than the type9 and slightly stronger.

Type9 is smaller, footwell space is quite hard to come by in these cars, and you can replace the iron bellhousing for an ally one to save a bit of weight.

A Zetec will bolt straight up to both (as long as the box is from a 4 cylinder and not a V6).

There are more differences but they're the main ones

@madteg:
do you use a standard type9, or one with stronger bearings?

As said type 9's are a smaller box so youl get more leg room and no tunnel mods.

Plus theyr cheaper if they go bang!!

Interesting

Who sells the ali bell housing, how much does it cost and do you know the exact weight difference?

Thanks

Burtons do them for £165 inc VAT.
Search for "BH3".
