OT - Peugeot 306 HDi problem - Partly resolved
Any diesel experts here?
My Peugeot 306 DTurbo (1999V, 118K, fsh, one owner) was fine until yesterday morning.
The engine warning light came on (engine logo with transistor overlay) and max no load revs are 2400, feels like no boost and really sluggish.
I deduced a faulty MAF (air flow meter) and, sure enough, one of the little elements was damaged. I've fitted a new one (and am now £91 poorer)
but the light is still on and the symptoms remain.
I've checked all the connectors I can see and they're all clean with no sign of corrosion.
Has anyone had this sort of problem (whether Peugeot or not) and if so what was the solution.
Otherwise, has anyone any ideas?

He's whittling on a piece of wood. I got a feeling that when he stops whittling, something's gonna happen. (OUATITW/Cheyenne)

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes it may reset the ECU, there could also be splits in vacume lines so check them.

Thanks, Schrodinger,
I've disconnected the battery (12:45) and I'm going to leave it for 30 minutes)...
Watch this space...I'll be back!

All the hoses seem in order.

Had similar prolems with our 2000 W plate HDI 306. Both times traced to a faulty throttle position sensor (TPS). In our case the engine light was on
for a while before the loss of power - ECU not getting correct throttle signal.
IIRC about £130 for my local pug specialist to diagnose and resolve (3-4 years ago)

Just been to the local Peugeot garage for a 'half hour' diagnostic - best £36 I've spent in a while, I was there two hours!
Turns out to be the HP diesel pressure sensor at fault and they're going to fix it (along with the shot diff oil seal) on Tuesday. Not cheap -
the sensor is £132 + an hour's labour + VAT - but if it keeps the old bus going, that's OK by me!
