SVA Monday, Engine not starting
My R1 (carbed 5JJ) is not starting with my test only a few days away.
I turn the ignition, the clocks light up, fuel pump primes. Error signal at 8000 rpm, as the fuel sender is not attached.
Engine turns over, doesn't catch.
I have some people coming round to help tonight, so I am asking if there are any tricks I could try to fire it up? According to the autoelectrician
when he did the wiring, the engine was sparking, but we will try that later on.
Grateful for any help, always a fountain of knowledge is this forum
James
p.s. what is the spark plug number order? left to right as you sit on the bike?

are you using a big car battery or a bike one? i find the extra oomph of the car ones helpful when first starting.
has it been sitting long?
try putting a tiny bit of fuel (a few ml) in the carbs
is there a cut off switch that stops it catching if the clutch isnt depressed?

Use a can of Easystart to eliminate or prove a fuel fault. That should save a bit of time!

Check that your fuel line and return are on the correct ends of the fuel rail.
I had mine the wrong way around and couldn't start mine.........

Hi all,
Sorry about the late reply, but good news!
I used a bike battery, and it ran out of juice trying to get it starting, but it definitely was nearly there!
When we put the jump leads on from my dad's car, it started after a few attempts, yay!!
Hopefully it will start first time round tomorrow. Happy bunny now!
