vauxhall xe plumbing

Having been studying the diagram of the xe cooling system, i have a few questions i dont quite understand. If you bleed the top hose back to the header tank, wont the hot water just go straight to the header tank too, or is it just a tiny pipe you use? What size? Think ive just worked that out while i was writing, does this enter the header tank above the water level??
Also what is xz on the header tank?

Polo rad in My XE is plenty enough cooling wise. Never gets above 85 on the open road.
the water does come back to the header tank but not all of it. The pump will flow a lot more water than the bleed pipe so most it goes through the larger cooling pipes.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
