another q

hi all, thanks for all your help you all been grate
i need to retard my ign,for my turbo pinto,im running carbs,i was told you can use a dizy off a bmw e21,that retards on boost,it got me thinking the dizy i have on my pinto in my mk,has 2 outles or inlets on the vac thing,im sure i can use this?and save myself 40quid.

im not quite sure how how the vac works, but i think it advances it when its runing on a n/a set up,and i have read whan you use this with boost preshure it retards the dizy???

or am i talking s@;t

AFAIK vac advance is more to do with economy than anything else. It was a common
mod on the old Minis to remove it and set the timing where best for your setup and alter the
centrifugal weights to control the timing.

This is where someone tells me Pinto dizzies don't have weights

ok,iv blocked up the holes at the mo as i am n/a,

but,

would this work,i phoned burton thay said get a dizy off a bmw e21 that retards the ign on boost,
so i found one,
and it just so happens its a bosch,
and the one on my mk is also a bosch, with 2 holes in the vac thing and i did read that this works, but i want to be 100% that the one i have is right.
maybe i should just ask wether the vac dose anything to the timing on a n/a motor when running????

There is also the advance/retard capsule from a Saab turbo - that advances up when not not on boost, then retards back as the boost comes in..
